Removing (main) catalytic converter

CAUTION

Heavy components

- Risk of squashing

-> Wear personal protective gear.
-> Get someone to help if necessary.

CAUTION

Hot components

- Risk of burns

-> Let hot components cool down.
-> Wear personal protective gear.

Information

- Please read the most important working regulations and warning notes => The most important working regulations and warning notes.

1. Loosen the transmission support on the body and remove it.
1.1. Support transmission. => Supporting transmission Use a transmission jack similar to the one shown if necessary.

Supporting transmission

1.2. Unscrew screws in holder on the body and on the transmission support => Holder for main catalytic converter and loosen and remove transmission support -1-.

Information

- Replace seals, fastening nuts and clamp.

1. Replace seals. Slide new metal seal and new exhaust clamps onto the exhaust system.
2. Install main catalytic converters.
2.1. Move the main catalytic converters into installation position and fit the screws in the holder on the body.
2.2. Fit main catalytic converters -4- on the primary catalytic converters. Use new screws.

4. Install and tighten transmission support. For details, see -> 373519 Removing and installing transmission - section on "Installing"
5. Fit holder for catalytic converter on transmission support.
6. Tighten all screws to the correct torque. Main catalytic converter to primary catalytic converter => Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.) ; exhaust clamp => Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.) ; main catalytic converter to transmission support=> Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.) ; main catalytic converter to body => Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)
