Technical values





Preliminary work

1. Disconnect battery. => 270619 Removing and installing battery - section on "Removing"; => 90 Work instructions after disconnecting the battery
2. Remove engine guard. => 108019 Removing and installing engine guard - section on "Removing"

Removing the starter

WARNING

Risk of damage to starter

-> The battery must be properly disconnected before the electric lines are detached on the starter.





Overview of starter

1. Open the press-studs -arrow- and remove the heat insulation cover on the solenoid switch.

2. Pull off protection cap -arrow A-.

3. Screw off the fastening nut -1- and take the line off the threaded pin -arrow B-.
4. Pull off protection cap -3- ( -arrow C- ).
5. Screw off the fastening nut -2- and take the line off the threaded pin -arrow C-.
6. Undo fastening screw -arrow 3- and pull holder away in a downward direction -arrow A-.

7. Unscrew fastening screw -arrow 4-.
8. Screw off the fastening nuts -arrows 5- and take out the support -arrow B-. To do this, turn the holder slightly if necessary.
9. Unscrew fastening screw -arrow 6- on the transmission side of the starter.

10. Unscrew fastening screw -arrow 7-.





Removing starter

11. Unscrew lower fastening screw -arrow 8- of the starter.
12. Pull the line carefully downwards -arrow A- and remove the starter -arrow B-. Turn the starter if necessary.

Installing the starter

Information

- Before installing the starter, check the smooth operation of the thread for securing the starter. Threads that do not open/close smoothly must be repaired before installing the starter.

1. Pull the line carefully downwards -arrow A- and insert the starter -arrow B-. Turn the starter if necessary -arrow C-.





Inserting the starter

2. Lift the starter forwards and screw in fastening screw -arrow 8- but do not tighten it.
3. Screw in fastening screw -arrow 6- on the transmission side and tighten the two fastening screws on the starter. => Tightening torque: 75 Nm (56 ftlb.) , => Tightening torque: 75 Nm (56 ftlb.)

4. Insert the holder -arrows A- and screw on the fastening nuts -arrows 5- , but do not tighten them.





Support and protective tube on starter

5. Screw on fastening screw -arrow 4- and tighten. Then tighten the fastening nuts -arrows 5-.
6. Place the protective tube in installation position -arrow B- and secure with the fastening screw -arrow 3-.
7. Connect the line to the threaded bolt -arrow A- and secure with the fastening nut -2-. => Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6.0 ftlb.)





Securing lines on the starter

8. Fit protection cap -3- ( -arrow A- ).
9. Connect the line to the B+ connection -arrow B- and secure with the fastening nut -1-. => Tightening torque: 15 Nm (11 ftlb.)
10. Place protective cap on the B+ connection -arrow C-.
11. Put heat protection cover around solenoid switch -arrows A- and fasten with the push buttons -arrows B-.

12. Secure the line with the fastening screw -arrow 7-.

Subsequent work

1. Fit engine guard. => 108019 Removing and installing engine guard - section on "Installing"
2. Connect the battery. => 270619 Removing and installing battery - section on "Installing"; => 90 Work instructions after disconnecting the battery
