Preliminary work

Preliminary work for control unit for rear lid

1. If a new control unit has to be installed, the values and codings must be read out using the 2nd generation PIWIS Tester 9818 prior to removing the "old" control unit for rear lid. -> 556855 Replacing control unit for rear lid 556855 Replacing Control Unit for Rear Lid.
2. Remove trim panel for tailgate. -> 709219 Removing and installing trim panel for tailgate - section on "Removing" Service and Repair

NOTICE

Voltage peaks

- Risk of damage to load or to the control unit

-> Remove the ignition key and switch off load before disconnecting or removing load.





Installation position

1. Release electric connectors -1, 2, 3- ( -a- ) and unplug them at the lid control unit.

2. Press the two locking lugs -arrow- on the control unit and unhook the control unit from the lid.

Installing control unit for rear lid

1. Hook control unit onto rear lid -1- and clip it in -2-.

2. Plug in electric connectors -2, 3- at the control unit until they engage securely.

3. Plug in and lock electric connector -1-.

Subsequent work

1. Install trim panel for tailgate. -> 709219 Removing and installing trim panel for tailgate - section on "Installing" Service and Repair
2. If the control unit was replaced, the control unit must be adapted to the vehicle using the 2nd generation PIWIS Tester 9818. -> 556855 Replacing control unit for rear lid 556855 Replacing Control Unit for Rear Lid.
