Removing and Installing Valve Lifters (Hydraulic Tappets)
Removing and installing valve lifters (hydraulic tappets)
Preliminary work
1. Remove camshafts.
Removing valve lifters (hydraulic tappets)
Information
* The hydraulic tappets are fitted as bucket tappets on the outlet side and as switching tappets for valve lift switchover on the intake side.
* Switching tappets and bucket tappets cannot be interchanged.
* The hydraulic tappets have a twist lock for the cylinder head.
Information
* If the hydraulic tappets are to be re-used, they must be marked according to installation position using a water-resistant felt-tip pen and set aside in such a way that they cannot be mixed up!
* If the hydraulic tappets are to be re-used, they must be installed at the same position!

E - Intake side
A - Outlet side
5 to 8 - Cylinders
Installing valve lifters (hydraulic tappets)
1. Oil the hydraulic tappets with engine oil and insert them into the cylinder head.
