Engine - Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair


WM 197819 Removing and installing coolant temperature sensor

Preliminary work

1. Drain coolant. -> 193817 Draining and filling coolant (includes bleeding) Service and Repair
2. Remove cross panel. -> 508119 Removing and installing cross panel (disassembling plenum panel) Service and Repair
3. Remove vacuum pump. -> 477619 Removing and installing vacuum pump Service and Repair

Removing coolant temperature sensor

1. Expose access to temperature sensor -3-.
1.1. Unclip oxygen sensor cable. Loosen the holder.

2. Pull off cable plug.
3. Remove coolant temperature sensor from the cylinder head.

Installing coolant temperature sensor

Information

The tightening specifications for the basic engine are stored centrally. -> 1001IN Tightening torques, tightening sequences, assembly overviews [1][2]Specifications. Tightening torques and assembly instructions for other assemblies (e.g. chassis, electrics, transmission or body) or for peripheral engine equipment can be found in the corresponding documents.

1. Fit coolant temperature sensor -3- in the cylinder head. Tighten coolant temperature sensor.

2. Peripheral equipment is installed in reverse order to removal.

Subsequent work

1. Fit vacuum pump. -> 477619 Removing and installing vacuum pump Service and Repair
2. Fit the cross panel. -> 508119 Removing and installing cross panel (disassembling plenum panel) Service and Repair
3. Fill in coolant. -> 193817 Draining and filling coolant (includes bleeding) Service and Repair
