Preliminary work

Preliminary work for control unit for rear-end electronics

1. If the control unit for rear-end electronics has to be replaced, the values/coding must be read out prior to removal using the 2nd generation PIWIS Tester 9818. -> 578955 Replacing control unit for rear-end electronics 578955 Replacing Control Unit for Rear-end Electronics.
2. Switch off ignition and remove the remote control from the ignition lock.
3. Open the luggage compartment floor.
4. Remove tool kit tray.
5. Unscrew the two fastening screws -1- on the fuse/relay carrier.

6. Pull the fuse/relay carrier up out of the guide.

NOTICE

Voltage peaks

- Risk of damage to load or to the control unit

-> Remove the ignition key and switch off load before disconnecting or removing load.





Installation position

1. Unscrew the fastening screw -2- for the control unit for rear-end electronics.

2. Release the electric plug connections -a- and pull the connectors off the control unit.

1. Press electric connectors into the control unit until they engage securely/lock.

2. Push the control unit into the mounting and secure with the fastening screw -2-. => Tightening torque: 2 Nm (1.5 ftlb.)+10 %-25 %

Subsequent work

Subsequent work for control unit for rear-end electronics

1. Push the fuse/relay carrier into the guide.

2. Secure the fuse/relay carrier with the two fastening screws -1-. => Tightening torque: 2 Nm (1.5 ftlb.)+10 %-25 %

3. Fit tool kit tray.
4. Close the luggage compartment floor.
5. If the control unit for rear-end electronics was replaced, the values/coding must be written back into the control unit again. -> 578955 Replacing control unit for rear-end electronics 578955 Replacing Control Unit for Rear-end Electronics.
