Removing And Installing Wiring Harness For Rear Panel Flap

Preliminary work
1. Remove complete C-pillar trim panel on left and right.
2. Remove upper part of B-pillar trim panel on left and right. The belt remains on the seat.
3. Remove left and right rear grab handles.
4. Remove release for rear lid.
5. Remove left and right number plate light.

Removing wiring harness for tailgate

Removing and installing wiring harness for tailgate







INFORMATION:
The number of plug connections can vary, depending on equipment.

Make sure that the roof cover does not buckle.

1. Lower headliner.
2. Disconnect plug connections in tailgate (depending on equipment).
2.1. Disconnect plug connection -2- for additional brake light -1-.







2.2. Release plug connection for spoiler drive -a- and pull it off.







2.3. Release plug connections -1- and -2- for auxiliary heater antenna -A- and pull them off -B-.







2.4. Release plug connection of wiper motor -1- for rear lid -a- and pull it off.







2.5. Release plug connections for auxiliary heating control unit -A- and pull them off -B-.







2.6. Release plug connection for antenna control unit -1- ( -a- ) and pull it off.







2.7. Lever out plug connection using a small screwdriver -b-.
2.8. Pull off plug connections for heated rear window.







3. Remove upper insulation on left and right.







4. Unscrew ground connection at top on left and right.







5. Detach wiring harness fastening for tailgate.







5.1. Cut tie-wrap.
5.2. Unclip fixing clips.

6. Detach antenna lines.







6.1. Unclip wiring harness for antenna lines -A-.
6.2. Loosen antenna lines from the bracket -B- , release them -a- and pull them off.

7. Disconnect connection point for wiring harness on left and right.







7.1. Disconnect plug connection at connection point.
7.2. Unscrew ground connection from roof.
7.3. Release housing for connection point -A- and remove it from the opening in the body -B-.

8. Loosen wiring harness on left and right from the housing for the connection point.







8.1. Release plug connection -A- and press plug connection out of housing -B-.
8.2. Release housing side panel for wiring harness connection point -C- and swivel it out -D-.
8.3. Pull electric lines out of the housing -E-.

9. Detach rubber sleeve on left and right and pull wiring harness through rubber sleeve towards the tailgate.







Installing wiring harness tailgate

Wiring harness for tailgate
1. Pull wiring harness through rubber sleeve on left and right and press rubber sleeve into opening in panel until it engages securely.







2. Pull wiring harness into housing on left and right.







2.1. Press plug connection into housing -A- until it engages securely -B-.
2.2. Pull electric lines into the housing -C-.
2.3. Close housing side panel -D- and lock it -E-.

3. Fasten connection point on left and right.







3.1. Clip housing into opening in body.
3.2. Secure ground connection.
3.3. Connect plug connection.

4. Fasten antenna lines.







4.1. Push plug connections together until they engage securely.
4.2. Clip in fixing clip -A- and clip plug connections into bracket -B-.

5. Secure wiring harness for tailgate.







5.1. Clip in fixing clips and pull in new tie-wraps.

6. Press in upper insulation on left and right.







7. Screw in ground strap at top left and right.







8. Connect plug connections.
8.1. Connect plug connections for heated rear window.







8.2. Insert plug connection for spoiler module until it engages securely -a-.







8.3. Connect plug connection -1- for additional brake light -2-.







8.4. Check that the plug connection is seated securely.
8.5. Connect plug connections for auxiliary heating control unit until they engage securely.







8.6. Connect plug connections for auxiliary heater antenna until they engage securely.







8.7. Connect plug connection of wiper motor -1- for rear lid until it engages securely.







8.8. Connect plug connections for antenna control unit until they engage securely.







Subsequent work
1. Install upper part of B-pillar trim panel on left and right.
2. Install complete C-pillar trim panel on left and right.
3. Install left and right rear grab handles.
4. Install release for rear lid.
5. Install left and right number plate light.
