Removing and installing gearshift bracket
Preliminary work for gearshift bracket
1. Remove shift-lever knob.
2. Remove switch console.
3. Detach torque supports at top and bottom from engine.

1. Remove design cover from Y-shaped pipe.
2. Remove Y-shaped pipe from intake manifold.

3. Unscrew fastening screws -arrows- from gearshift bracket.

4. Detach connector -arrow- from transmission.

5. Position transmission jack under transmission support.
6. Unscrew fastening screws from transmission support.

7. Lower transmission on transmission support by max. 25 mm.

8. Lever off cable ends -1- on transmission using disassembly tool Nr.21.

9. Remove tab washers -2- for operating cables from support using screwdriver.

10. Remove gearshift bracket together with operating cables.
11. Align gearshift bracket in neutral position using locking bridge 9619/2.

12. Measure excess operating cable -X- at the cable end and write it down. The dimension -X- is needed for pre-positioning when installing.

13. Unscrew fastening screws -arrows- from the bottom of the gearshift bracket and remove cover.

14. Release adjuster from gearshift bracket. To do this, release the catch using a screwdriver -arrow-.

15. Remove safety clips -arrows- from gearshift bracket.

16. Remove operating cables out of gearshift bracket.
Installing gearshift bracket
1. Insert operating cables into gearshift bracket and install safety clips -arrows-.

2. Insert cable ends -arrow- into the adjuster.

3. Align gearshift bracket in neutral position using locking bridge 9619/2.

4. When fitting the gearshift bracket, adjust the position -X- of the operating cables before removal and latch in adjuster.

5. Screw in fastening screws -arrows- for cover on gearshift bracket.

6. Locking bridge 9619/2 on the gearshift bracket must be removed.
7. Install gearshift bracket together with operating cables.
8. Guide rubber sleeve on operating cable through the support and latch cable ends -1- onto the transmission.

9. Insert safety clips -2- on support.

10. Check position of clips using mirror.
11. Press gearshift bracket into the cut-out in the cardan tunnel.
12. Screw in fastening screws for transmission support. -> Tightening torque: 65 Nm (48 ftlb.)

13. Tighten fastening screws -arrows- for gearshift bracket to cardan tunnel. -> Tightening torque: 6 Nm (4.5 ftlb.)

14. Release adjuster -arrows-.

1. Install switch console.
2. Install shift-lever knob.
3. Secure torque supports at top and bottom to engine.
