Evaporator Core: Service and Repair



Removing And Installing Evaporator/condenser Line

Technical values







Preliminary work

1. Drain refrigerant.

2. Loosen directional-control valve and swivel it aside.

3. Remove brake booster.

Removing evaporator/condenser line

WARNING:
Refrigerant
- Danger of freezing


- Avoid contact with refrigerant.

- Wear personal protective gear.

- Observe the safety regulations for working on air-conditioned vehicles and dealing with refrigerant.

- Observe the safety regulations for extraction and filling systems.

- Observe the instructions for repairing air conditioning systems and storing spare parts.







1. Unscrew the fastening screw -1- for the refrigerant line at the condenser.

2. Pull the refrigerant line out of the condenser.







3. Unscrew the fastening screw -2- for the bracket.







4. Release electric plug connection and disconnect it.







5. Open the line bracket -3-.







6. Unscrew the fastening screw -4- for the B+ line -arrow A-.

7. Remove the B+ line -arrow B- and lay it aside.







8. Pull off the coolant hose.







9. Screw off the fastening nut -5- and press the heat shield -6- to the right in direction of travel.







10. Open the bracket and unclip the line from the bracket.







11. Pull the line out of the rubber bracket.







12. Unscrew the fastening screw -7- for the evaporator/condenser line at the expansion valve.







13. Remove the entire evaporator/condenser line.

Installing evaporator/condenser line

INFORMATION:
Before re-installing the component, check the O-rings of the refrigerant lines for damage and replaced them if necessary.

Wet the O-rings of the refrigerant lines with refrigerant oil.

Do not open the plugs for the lines and connections until shortly before installation.

Close off all lines and connections using suitable plugs during removal.

1. Fit and position the evaporator/condenser line.

2. Insert the line into the expansion valve.

3. Screw in the fastening screw -7- for the evaporator/condenser line at the expansion valve.







4. Press the line into the rubber holder.







5. Clip the line into the bracket and close it.







6. Slide the heat shield -6- over the bolts and secure it with the fastening nut -5-.







7. Fit the coolant hose.







8. Connect the B+ line -arrow C- and secure with the bolts -4- ( -arrow D- ).







9. Close the line bracket -3-.







10. Connect electric plug connection.







11. Screw in the fastening screw -2- for the bracket.







12. Insert the line into the condenser.

13. Screw in the fastening screw -1- for the refrigerant line at the condenser.







Subsequent work

1. Install brake booster.

2. Secure directional-control valve.

3. Fill in refrigerant.

4. Bleed the cooling system.
