Symptoms

Rattling/buzzing noises from around the instrument cluster.

Causes and remedial action

Rattling/buzzing noises can come from around the instrument cluster caused by tolerances between the dashboard inset and instrument cluster.

In the event of a complaint, tricot tape must be affixed to the centering journals of the instrument cluster and two felt strips must also be affixed to the underside of the instrument cluster to remedy the situation on vehicles manufactured before the specified date of introduction September 2005.

Preliminary work

1. Remove instrument cluster. => 902519 Removing and installing instrument cluster.

Reworking the instrument cluster

1. Cut a strip of felt tape approx. 50 mm long.
2. Stick felt tape -1- to the centering journal of the instrument cluster -2- in the middle.





Sticking on felt tape

3. Stick felt strips -1- on the left and right of the instrument cluster -2- at position -X= 3 mm-.

Subsequent work

1. Install instrument cluster. => 902519 Removing and installing instrument cluster.
