600649 Eliminating Noise Symptoms - Reworking Roof Assembly

WM 600649 Eliminating noise symptoms - Reworking roof assembly

Technical values

General information

Symptoms

General noises from the roof assembly.

Causes and remedial action

Noises can come from the roof assembly while driving due to relative movements.

In the event of a complaint, the noises must be eliminated according to the specified procedure. The defective components may need to be replaced.

Information

All measures for eliminating noises are performed with the roof assembly installed.

If the measures do not help to eliminate the noises, please contact the Technical Competence Center (TCC) before removing the roof assembly.

Procedure for eliminating noises from the roof assembly

Information

There must always be two people in the vehicle when performing test drives for the purpose of finding the source of noises - a driver, who simulates the situation in which the noise occurs, and a person to check the noise.

Optional accessories or objects must be removed from the vehicle before the test drive.

The test drive must be carried out on an even road surface, observing the road traffic regulations.

During the test drive, pay attention to the following information in order to localise the faults:

- Check to see exactly where the noise is coming from on the roof assembly at the front or rear, left/right.

- Check the cause of the noise, particularly related noises.
