Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair


WM 244519 Removing and installing hot-film mass air flow sensor

Technical values





Preliminary work

1. Remove air cleaner housing.
-> 242419 Removing and installing air-cleaner element.
2. Remove top half of air filter.
2.1. Unscrew eight Torx tapping screws (T25 screw insert) on the upper part of the air filter.

2.2. Lift off top half of air filter -1-.

Removal

Removing mass air flow sensor

1. Unscrew two Torx tapping screws (T25 screw insert) -2-.

2. Pull out mass air flow sensor -1-.
2.1. Check O-ring -2- and replace it if necessary.
2.2. Grease new O-ring lightly with Kluber Syntheso Glep (Part No. 000.043.204.68).

Installation

Installing mass air flow sensor

1. Insert mass air flow sensor -1- with new O-ring into the air cleaner housing.
Always observe installation position. The lug must be facing the housing.

2. Fit two Torx tapping screws (T25 screw insert) -2- and tighten carefully.

=> Tightening torque: 3 Nm (2 ftlb.)

Subsequent work

1. Fit top half of air filter.
1.1. Screw in eight Torx tapping screws (T25 screw insert) on the upper part of the air filter and tighten carefully.

=> Tightening torque: 3 Nm (2 ftlb.)
1.2. Check that the top half is seated correctly.
2. Install air cleaner housing.
