465119 Removing and installing front PCCB brake disc
WM 465119 Removing and installing front PCCB brake disc
Tools
Preliminary work
Remove wheel.
-> 440519 Removing and installing wheel or
-> 440519 Removing and installing wheel with central bolt.
General warning notes
WARNING
Installation of brake pads with the wrong brake pad quality
- Longer braking distance
- More wear on brake pads
-> Only use the type-specific brake pads listed in the Porsche Parts Catalogue.
-> Replace the brake pads when the brake pad wear indicator light comes on, but no later than when there is a residual pad thickness of 2 mm on each axle.
-> Replace the brake discs on each axle as soon as the brake pad wear limit is reached.
NOTICE
Removing/fitting wheels
- Risk of damage to (ceramic) brake discs
-> Use two assembly pins when removing and fitting the wheel.
-> Carefully guide the wheel towards the wheel hub, thereby preventing any heavy impact on the (ceramic) brake disc.

Information
- In order to gain better access for removal of the brake caliper, it is beneficial to turn the wheels fully either to the right or the left.
1. Release retainer for plug of wear indicator on wheel carrier.
2. Disconnect the speed sensor on the ABS sensor.
3. Push brake pads back slightly and evenly using brake piston resetting fixture 9472.
4. Undo brake caliper on wheel carrier and hang it in a suitable place in the wheel well (do not open the brake hydraulics!).
5. Remove brake disc after unscrewing the fastening screw. If necessary, remove the brake disc by tapping it gently with a rubber hammer.

Do not confuse right and left brake discs during assembly!
Distinguishing characteristic: Part No.! The flat surface of the brake discs is marked with R = right or L = left.
Information
When replacing the brake discs due to wear, the brake discs on one axle must always be replaced.
Irrespective of wear, a brake disc change can be necessary on the brake disc friction surfaces due to edge damage. In this case, only one brake disc can be replaced if the friction area surface of the other brake disc is OK.
1. Check that all parts are in perfect condition and replace them if necessary.
2. When replacing brake discs -2- on vehicles with centre-lock wheel, five new wheel attachments -1- must be fitted.
The wheel attachments -1- (5 x), comprising an attachment pin -1.1- , sleeve -1.2- and self-locking screw -1.3- , are only available as a set for one brake disc (Part No. 997.341.901.00).
2.1. When fitting the wheel attachments -1- , always check the following:
All contact surfaces must be clean and free of grease.
Tightening torque for self-locking screws -1.3- = 6 Nm (4.5 ftlb.).
Attachment on brake disc
3. Clean the levelling and centering surfaces on the brake disc and wheel hub. Then apply a very thin coat of Optimoly TA to the centering surface on the wheel hub.
4. Fit the brake disc. Observe specified tightening torque. -> 46 Tightening torques for brake mechanics - Technical values
5. Fit the brake caliper. Replace the brake caliper fastening screws each time they are removed. Observe specified tightening torque. -> 46 Tightening torques for brake mechanics - Technical values
6. Fit retainer for connector for wear indicator on wheel carrier.
7. Fit the speed sensor (ABS sensor).
8. Position disc brake pads by operating the brake several times.
9. Check brake fluid level and correct if necessary. The brake fluid level must be between the MAX-MIN marking. => Brake system: checking fluid level -> 470801 Checking brake fluid level
Brake system: checking fluid level
Subsequent work
Install wheel.
-> 440519 Removing and installing wheel or
-> 440519 Removing and installing wheel with central bolt.
Bedding in the brake pads
New brake pads require a slightly longer bedding-in period for PCCB brake discs than cast iron brake discs.
In general, the following applies: New brake pads must be worn in (bedding-in period), their optimum braking effect is therefore not reached until after a few hundred kilometers. The slightly reduced braking effect must be compensated for by increased pressure on the brake pedal. The same also applies after a brake disc change.
