Preliminary work

CAUTION

Hot components

- Risk of burns

-> Let hot components cool down.
-> Wear personal protective gear.

1. Remove rear apron.
=> 635519 Removing and installing rear apron.
2. Remove charge air cooler.
=> 214319 Removing and installing charge air cooler.
3. Remove heat shield on catalytic converter.
=> 635019 Removing and installing rear bumper.
4. The electronic adjuster must be removed for the bar ignition module for cylinder 5.
=> 216600 Removing and installing electronic adjuster for turbocharger.
5. Remove heat shield.
=> 261219 Removing and installing heat shield - Turbo.

Removing bar ignition module

1. Disconnect and pull off the cable plug -2- on the bar ignition module.
1.1. Unscrew fastening screw (internal Torx T30) M6 x 16 -3-.
1.2. Loosen and pull out bar ignition module -1-.
1.3. Turn the bar ignition module slightly in order to remove it if necessary.

Installing bar ignition module

1. Fit bar ignition module -1-.
1.1. Fit and tighten fastening screw (internal Torx T30, M6 x 16) -3-.
=> Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)
1.2. Connect cable plug -2- for bar ignition module.

Subsequent work

1. Install heat shield.
=> 261219 Removing and installing heat shield - Turbo
2. After removing the bar ignition module for cylinder 5: Install electronic adjuster.
=> 216600 Removing and installing electronic adjuster for turbocharger.
3. Install heat shield on catalytic converter.
=> 635019 Removing and installing rear bumper.
4. Install charge air cooler.
=> 214319 Removing and installing charge air cooler.
5. Install the rear apron.
=> 635519 Removing and installing rear apron.
