WM 371319 Removing and installing parking lock cable
Preliminary work
1. Move selector lever to position P.
2. Raise the vehicle at the prescribed jacking points.

3. Remove selector knob.

4. Remove centre console.

5. Remove handbrake lever.

6. Remove underbody panelling.

Removing parking lock cable
1. Disengage parking lock cable on the PDK transmission.
Removing parking lock cable
1.1. Press ball head of parking lock cable -1- off the parking lock lever.
1.2. Release parking lock cable -1- at the bracket by pressing the locking lugs -2- together and pull it out.
2. Disconnect parking lock cable from the selector support.
Disconnecting parking lock cable
2.1. Open the bayonet lock -2- on the parking lock cable, pull it off and disengage it at the support.
2.2. Release and pull off electric multiple plug connector -3-.
3. Press the parking lock cable out of the body guide.
Pressing out rubber sleeve
Press rubber sleeve -3- outwards and remove parking lock cable -1-.
Installing parking lock cable
Information
During installation, make sure that the selector lever is in position "P" on the selector support and at the rear end position on the transmission. The parking lock must be fully engaged. Avoid "tooth-on-tooth" position.
1. Slide the selector lever cable through the body guide from underneath.
Pressing in rubber sleeve
1.1. Apply a coating of lubricant (e.g. Contifix tyre mounting paste) on the rubber sleeve -3- and B+ cable -2- close to the body opening.
1.2. Slide the B+ cable -2- into the rubber sleeve -3-. Then press the rubber sleeve -3- into the body guide and engage it.
2. Engage parking lock cable on the PDK transmission.
Engaging parking lock cable
2.1. Check that the gear selector on the selector support is in position "P" and is locked.
2.2. Check that the transmission parking lock is fully engaged.
2.3. Fit the parking lock cable -1- on the bracket, press it in and engage it.
2.4. Press ball head of parking lock cable -1- onto the parking lock lever.
3. Connect parking lock cable at the selector support.
Note: The parking lock cable must only be connected without pretension.
Connecting parking lock cable
3.1. Insert parking lock cable into the bayonet lock -2- and lock the bayonet lock.
3.2. Attach parking lock cable to the support and engage securely.
3.3. Connect electric multiple plug connector -3-.
Function test
1. Move selector lever from position P to D and from position D to M and back again several times.
2. Check that the parking lock is disengaged.
2.1. Insert ignition key into the ignition lock.
2.2. Move selector lever to position P. "P" appears in the instrument cluster.
2.3. Actuate the operating brake.
2.4. Start the engine.
2.5. Move selector lever to position D. "D" appears in the instrument cluster.
2.6. Release the operating brake. If the vehicle moves forward, the test is complete. Otherwise, all connection parts must be checked again.
3. Check that the parking lock is engaged (engine running).
3.1. Insert ignition key into the ignition lock.
3.2. Move selector lever to position P. "P" appears in the instrument cluster.
3.3. Actuate the operating brake.
3.4. Start the engine.
3.5. Release the operating brake. The vehicle must not move. Otherwise, the entire system must be checked.
3.6. Switch off engine.
4. Check that the parking lock is engaged (blocking effect).
4.1. Insert ignition key into the ignition lock.
4.2. Move selector lever to position P. "P" appears in the instrument cluster.
4.3. Move selector lever to position N. "N" appears in the instrument cluster.
4.4. Get another person to help you to push the vehicle for a distance of at least one metre. It must be possible to move the vehicle. Otherwise, the entire system must be checked.
4.5. Actuate the operating brake.
4.6. Move selector lever to position P. "P" appears in the instrument cluster.
4.7. Get another person to help you to push the vehicle. The vehicle must not move (a max. movement of 150 mm is acceptable). Otherwise, the entire system must be checked.
Subsequent work
1. Install handbrake lever.

2. Install centre console.

3. Install selector knob.

4. Install underbody panelling.
