Launch Control

Launch Control

In combination with the optionally available Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) and the Sport Chrono Package Turbo, the new 911 Turbo models also feature an assistance system for maximum acceleration from a standing start. This "Launch Control" system allows drivers to reliably achieve the best possible drive-off performance time and time again. Maximum acceleration control is accomplished both via the slip on the drive wheels as well as via controlled torque control on the transmission clutch.

To prepare for acceleration with Launch Control (for a stationary and operationally warm vehicle), SPORT PLUS mode must be activated and the brake pedal fully depressed after selecting transmission range D or M. Quickly depressing the accelerator pedal beyond the kickdown point increases the engine speed to approx. 5,000 rpm and the boost pressure to approx. 0.5 bar. If "LAUNCH CONTROL" appears in the steering wheel display, the accelerated start can be activated by releasing the brake as quickly as possible.

Accelerated start with Launch Control:

- Select transmission range D or M
- Press SPORT PLUS button
- Fully depress brake pedal (left foot)
- Depress the accelerator pedal rapidly beyond kickdown (right foot)
- Engine speed increases to approx. 5,000 rpm
- Boost pressure increases to approx. 0.5 bar
- Steering wheel display "LAUNCH CONTROL"
- Quickly release brake
- Gear shifts take place automatically, since kickdown mode is active
- Actual acceleration is controlled via clutch engagement.
- Controlled clutch and wheel slip ensures the best possible traction. The kickdown function, which is active during the entire acceleration process, automatically shifts to the next-higher gear when the maximum engine speed is reached in both transmission ranges D and M.
