Preliminary work

1. Remove engine-transmission unit. -> 100119 Removing and installing engine - section on "Removing"

Removing lid for selector force mechanism

1. Shift transmission to neutral.
2. Remove lid for selector force mechanism.





Selector force mechanism





2.1. Screw out stud -A-.
2.2. Remove circlip.
Remove circlip -B- using a circlip pliers.
2.3. Drill a hole into the centre of the lid -C-.
Drill a 3.5-mm hole into the centre of the lid -C- (coat the drill bit with viscous grease to prevent drill chips from falling into the transmission).
2.4. Screw in tapping screw.





Levering out lid

Screw in tapping screw (4.8 x 25) with a large washer.
2.5. Lever out lid using two screwdrivers.

Installing lid for selector force mechanism

1. Install lid for selector force mechanism.

Replace lid for selector force mechanism!
1.1. Insert lid -C- and circlip -B- into the housing bore.
1.2. Move lid -C- and circlip -B- into position.
Press circlip and lid down using a press-out mandrel p 375 until the circlip engages in its groove.

Information

- Make sure that the circlip is seated correctly.

1.3. Screw in and tighten studs -A-.
=> Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)

Subsequent work

1. Install engine-transmission unit. -> 100119 Removing and installing engine - section on "Installing"
