Preliminary work

1. Fully open the convertible top.

Safety instructions for work on the roll-over protection system

WARNING

Incorrect handling of roll-over protection system

- Roll-over protection system is activated

-> Remove ignition key.
-> Wait 1 minute before starting work.
-> Keep space clear for the roll-over protection system to move.
-> Only remove roll-over bar module when the roll-over bar is extended.

It is not permissible to perform repairs on the roll-over bar modules.

The roll-over bar modules must be replaced in the event of visible damage or pressure marks.

After assembly work on the roll-over protection system - but at least every 2 years - the function of the roll-over protection system must be tested by triggering it via the diagnostic interface of the PIWIS tester 9718.

Only perform the function test on the roll-over protection system with the hardtop and cap removed and the convertible top open.

Information

Actuate the roll-over protection system only if:

- the hardtop is removed

- the convertible top is open

- the caps are removed

1. PIWIS Tester 9718 must be connected to the diagnostic socket. Switch on ignition. Select menu item "Airbarg/POSIP" , and select menu item "Drive links" in the command line which then appears, select "Triggering roll-over bar" in the command line that appears. Press the key combination [F2] and [F8] within 2 s, as described in the Tester; the roll-over protection system is triggered. Please note: time until triggered approx. 10s!

2. Press locking levers outward -arrow A- and press in the roll-over bar -1- ( -arrow B- ) until it is felt to engage -inset-.

Subsequent work

1. Install caps.
2. Close convertible top.
