Technical values





Preliminary work

1. Remove hood compartment lid. -> 619019 Removing and installing hood compartment lid - section on "Removing" 619019 Removing and installing hood compartment lid
2. Remove auxiliary brake light in hood compartment lid. -> 947019 Removing and installing auxiliary brake light - section on "Removing"
3. Remove wire harness for hood compartment lid. -> 972519 Removing and installing rear wire harness - section on "Removing" 97251900 Removing and installing rear wire harness
4. Remove SDARS antenna. -> 913819 Removing and installing ADARS antenna - section on "Removing" 913819 Removing and installing SDARS antenna

Disassembling hood compartment lid

Information

The foam pad/foam part will be damaged irreparably during removal and cannot be re-used.

1. Remove foam pad.

1.1. Loosen foam pad -1- in bonding area -A- and pull off from hood compartment lid -2- ( -arrows- ).
1.2. Remove adhesive residue and clean with cleaning solution.

2. Remove edge protection.

2.1. Mark position of retaining clips -1- and remove -arrow A-.
2.2. Pull off edge protection -2- from hood compartment lid -3- ( -arrow B- ).
3. Remove rubber buffer at the left and right.

3.1. Unscrew rubber buffer -1- out of hood compartment lid -2- ( -arrow- ).
4. Remove upper part of lid lock.

4.1. Unscrew fastening screws -1-.
4.2. Remove upper part of lid lock -2- from hood compartment lid -3-.
5. Remove bracket at the left and right.

5.1. Press in retaining pins and unclip expanding clips -1-.
5.2. Remove bracket -2- from hood compartment lid -3- ( -arrow- ).

Information

The sealing strip and seal cannot be reused.

6. Remove seal and sealing strip.

6.1. Pull off sealing strip -1- together with seal -2- from hood compartment lid -3- ( -arrow- ).
6.2. Pull off adhesive tape -1- from hood compartment lid -2 - at the left and right -arrow-.

6.3. Remove adhesive residue and clean with cleaning solution.

Assembling hood compartment lid

1. Thoroughly clean the hood compartment lid in the marked area.

2. Cut two strips of adhesive tape, each approx. 250 mm long.

Information

- The bonding surfaces must be clean and free of grease.

- Make sure that the adhesive tape is flush at the outer edge and does not project over the edge.

3. Stick adhesive tape on the left and right.

3.1. Pull off backing paper and stick adhesive tape -1- at dimension -X= 510 mm- on the flange of the hood compartment lid -2- and press on it lightly.

Information

Using jerky movements, slide on the seal in the bonding surface area (adhesive tape) so that contact between the seal and adhesive tape is only made once the required seal position is attained.

If the seal is not flush at the edge when completely fitted, the seal and adhesive tape must be removed and cannot be reused.

4. Install seal and sealing strip.

4.1. Remove protective film from the adhesive strip before fitting the seal -2-.
4.2. Position seal -2- at the centre of the hood compartment lid -3- (notch in flange of lid) using the positioning guide (hole in centre of seal) -arrow A-.
4.3. Starting from the centre, push the seal -2- onto the flange.
4.4. Position sealing strip -1- on the seal -2- (hole in centre of seal) using the positioning guide (prick punch mark on the inside) -arrow B-.
4.5. Starting from the centre, tap the sealing strip -1- using a rubber hammer.
5. Install bracket at the left and right.

5.1. Position bracket -2- on hood compartment lid -3- ( -arrow - ).
5.2. Secure bracket -2- using the expanding clips -1- by pressing in the retaining pins.
6. Install upper part of lid lock.

6.1. Position upper part of lid lock -2- on hood compartment lid -3-.
6.2. Tighten fastening screws -1-. => Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)
7. Install rubber buffer at the left and right.

7.1. Screw rubber buffer -1- into hood compartment lid -2- ( -arrow- ).
8. Install edge protection at the left and right.

8.1. Fit edge protection -2- onto hood compartment lid -3- ( -arrow A- ).

Information

When installing the second retaining clip (on right/left), make sure that it is fitted at a distance of -X = 450 mm- from the end of the edge protection.

8.2. Press in retaining clips -1- at the marked locations -arrow B-.

Information

Bonding surfaces must be clean and free of grease.

9. Install foam pad.

9.1. Pull off protective paper -arrow A-.
9.2. Position foam pad -1- on hood compartment lid -2- and press it on -arrows B-.

Subsequent work

1. Install wire harness for hood compartment lid. -> 972519 Removing and installing rear wire harness - section on "Installing" 97251900 Removing and installing rear wire harness
2. Install SDARS antenna. -> 913819 Removing and installing ADARS antenna - section on "Installing" 913819 Removing and installing SDARS antenna
3. Install auxiliary brake light in hood compartment lid. -> 947019 Removing and installing auxiliary brake light - section on "Installing"
4. Install hood compartment lid. -> 619019 Removing and installing hood compartment lid - section on "Installing" 619019 Removing and installing hood compartment lid
