Removing bracket for oil/water heat exchanger

Information

- The bracket for the oil/water heat exchanger must not be removed at an angle or levered off at one side.

- The bracket's aluminium supports can break off in the crankcase.

1. Remove the high-pressure connecting line.

High-pressure connecting line

1.1. Loosen holder for the high-pressure connecting line -1- by unscrewing two external Torx screws (E10, M6 x 16) -2, 3-.
1.2. Loosen and unscrew union nuts -4- on the high-pressure connecting line -1- at the fuel collection pipes.
1.3. Remove the high-pressure connecting line -1-.
2. Disconnect coolant hoses on the heat exchanger.

Coolant hoses on heat exchanger

2.1. Clamp off coolant hoses using hose clamps.
2.2. Loosen spring band clamps -1-.
2.3. Pull off coolant hoses -2- and set them aside.
3. Remove bracket for oil/water heat exchanger.

Bracket for oil/water heat exchanger

3.1. Loosen and unscrew six external Torx screws (E10, M6 x 45) -1- and one external Torx screw (E10, M6 x 60) -2- on the bracket for the oil/water heat exchanger.
3.2.
3.3. Remove bracket for oil/water heat exchanger -3- from the crankcase.
3.4. Collect any drops of fluid with a clean cloth and clean the sealing faces.
3.5. Close off the bores with suitable stoppers.
4. Remove oil/water heat exchanger.
Unscrew six internal Torx screws (T30, M6 x 20) and remove the heat exchanger.
5. Replace O-rings.

Installing bracket for oil/water heat exchanger

1. Remove stoppers from the bores.
2. Replace O-rings.
Grease and fit new O-rings with Kluber Syntheso Glep grease (Porsche Part No. 000.043.204.68).
3. Fit oil/water heat exchanger.
Screw in and tighten six internal Torx screws (T30) M6 x 20.
=> Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)
4. Install bracket for oil/water heat exchanger.

Bracket for oil/water heat exchanger

4.1. Carefully fit bracket for oil/water heat exchanger -3-.
