WARNING
Objects or loads falling down
- Risk of squashing or crushing
-> Secure components to prevent them from falling down.
Information
- It may only be supported over a large area at the oil pan.
- Localised loading is not permitted.
Information
- When lowering, the engine must not rest on the rear axle cross member.
4. Lower the engine.
4.1. Support the engine at the oil pan with a transmission jack.
Transmission and unit jack Junior Jack 2.0 WE 1223 ; GA passenger car transmission plate WE 1224
4.2. Loosen and screw off two M12 collar nuts (T55) on both engine mountings.
4.3. Slowly lower the engine using the transmission jack.

Information
Specifications for wrench sizes (a/f specifications) for screw heads are described as follows:
- Torx screws: (E.) for external Torx, (T.) for internal Torx.
- Hexagon-head bolts (internal and external hexagon): Wrench size (a/f)
Information
- Always expose oxygen sensor wire far enough for it to be able to turn when unscrewing the sensor.
1. Observe instructions when working with oxygen sensors.
-> 2400AW Precautionary measures when handling oxygen sensors.
2. Pull plug connection for oxygen sensor downstream of catalytic converter (black cable) -2- in the engine compartment out of the bracket.
2.1. Release and pull off cable plug.
2.2. Plug connection on cylinder bank 1-3:

Information
- When reinstalling oxygen sensors, grease the thread with the Optimol Paste MF lubricant (Part No. 000.043.207.07) only.
- New oxygen sensors have already been greased and the thread is fitted with a protection cap.
1. Fit and tighten oxygen sensor (a/f 22) -2- downstream of catalytic converter.
Observe lubricating instructions!
=> Tightening torque: 50 Nm (37 ftlb.)+/-8 Nm (+/-6 ftlb.)
1.1. Guide the oxygen sensor cables at the side of the engine to the plug connection in the engine compartment and clip the right cable into the holder -right arrow-.
