Preliminary work

Preliminary work for relay carrier of cabriolet

1. Move convertible top to service position. => 6101IN IN -Convertible top service position
2. Removing carpet over the motor.
2.1. To loosen the carpet, pull out the plastic clips using special tool 21 and take out the carpet. Disassembly tool, universal Nr.21

Unscrewing retaining bracket

1. Unscrew the four fastening screws -4- and the fastening nut -5- and lift the retaining brackets for the DME control module and the relay carrier.
2. Unscrew the two fastening nuts for the relay carrier and disengage the relay carrier from the retaining bracket.

1. Disengage electric plug connection for microswitch -5- on holder, release -A- and disconnect

2. Loosen the two fastening nuts -1- , release electric plug connection -2- and unplug from control unit.

3. Remove motor together with drive to the rear out the bracket.
4. Release both locking hooks and pull the relay carrier up and out of the retaining frame.

Installing relay carrier

1. Engage relay carrier on retaining bracket and screw down with the two fastening screws -1-. => Tightening torque: 4.5 Nm (3.5 ftlb.)

2. Place retaining brackets on the body and screw down with the four fastening screws -4- and the fastening nut -5-. => Tightening torque: 2.2 Nm (1.5 ftlb.) => Tightening torque: 4.5 Nm (3.5 ftlb.)

Installing relay carrier for cabriolet

1. Push and engage the relay carrier into its retaining frame.

2. Push motor for convertible top compartment lid together with potentiometer onto the bracket and screw tight with the fastening nuts -1-. => Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)

3. Plug in the electric plug connection for potentiometer -2- at control unit until the connector is felt to engage.

4. Plug in the electric plug connection for microswitch -5- and engage on the bracket.

Subsequent work

Subsequent work for relay carrier of cabriolet

1. Reinstall carpet over motor.
2. Move convertible top from service position. => 6101IN IN - convertible top service position
