Installation position
1. Pull off the B+ plug -1- for the main switch (battery disconnect switch) from the battery positive terminal.

2. Unscrew the fastening nut -2- for the ground point on the body and disconnect the negative terminal -3- from the battery.

3. Cover the negative terminal on the battery with a soft, dry cloth.
4. Screw off the ground strap ]] negative terminal on battery disconnect switch [[ and remove the battery disconnect switch from its installation position.

4.1. Counter at the ground rail on the battery disconnect switch with an open-ended wrench (a/f 21) and screw off the fastening nut -4-.
4.2. Remove ground strap on battery disconnect switch.

Information
The electric line for the negative terminal must be screwed to the bulkhead using the painted fastening nut.
5. Fit the ground strap for the negative terminal of the battery at the bulkhead first and screw it on securely. => Tightening torque: 15 Nm (11 ftlb.)

6. Fit ground strap for the negative terminal on the battery and screw it on securely -3-. => Tightening torque: 4.7 Nm (3.5 ftlb.)
7. Place and fit the battery cover included with the vehicle.
8. -> 271000 Work instructions after disconnecting the battery must now be carried out.

Switching on vehicle electrical system
The battery disconnect switch, which is supplied via the positive terminal, is closed manually using the external switch lever and locked electromagnetically. The luggage compartment lid must not be open when doing this.

Information
Even when the vehicle electrical system is disconnected using the battery disconnect switch, the short-stroke lowering function of the side window remains active when you press the door handle on the driver's side.
The vehicle electrical system switches off:
If the battery voltage drops to below 12.75 V for a period of approx. 10 minutes.
Immediately, if the voltage supply of the main power supply switch (battery disconnect switch) is disconnected from the positive terminal.
Immediately, if the main power supply switch (battery disconnect switch) is mechanically released.
