Technical values
Preliminary work
1. If a new control unit has to be installed, the values/coding must be read out using the 2nd generation PIWIS Tester 9818 prior to removing the "old" control unit. -> 669655 Replacing trailer hitch control unit 669655 Replacing trailer hitch control unit.

NOTICE

- Risk of damage to load or to the control unit
-> Switch off ignition and remove remote control before disconnecting or removing load.
Information
Always comply with the regulations for handling ESD-sensitive components!
- Assembly work must only be carried out if the mechanic is wearing the working clothes and shoes approved by Porsche.
- The new part must only be removed from the ESD (electrostatic discharge) protective packaging just before installation and at the position at which the part is to be installed.
- Never touch the electric pins and plug contacts.
1. Switch off ignition and remove remote control.
2. Unscrew three fastening screws -1- on the bracket -2- and remove the control unit.

3. Release electric plug connection for trailer hitch power socket using a screwdriver -a- and pull it off -B-.

4. Release electric plug connection using a screwdriver -1- ( -a- ) and pull it off -B-.

Information

1. Plug in electric plug connection -A- until it engages securely.

2. Plug in electric plug connection for trailer hitch power socket -B- until it engages securely.
3. Position control unit and bracket and secure with the three fastening screws. => Tightening torque: 4.8 Nm (3.5 ftlb.)
Replacing

1. Unscrew two fastening screws -1- on the trailer hitch control unit.

2. Screw in two fastening screws -1- on the trailer hitch control unit.
Subsequent work
1. If the control unit was replaced, the "new" control unit must be adapted to the vehicle using the 2nd generation PIWIS Tester 9818. -> 669655 Replacing trailer hitch control unit 669655 Replacing trailer hitch control unit.
