Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems: Testing and Inspection
WM 450101 PSM/ABS check using the Porsche System Tester
Information
Bleeding the hydraulic unit
If the hydraulic unit was removed (e.g. after an accident) or if the hydraulic unit was replaced, it must be bled using the Porsche System Tester. This procedure removes any air from the system.
Connect the Porsche System Tester to the vehicle.
- Select Control unit overview ]]PSM[[.
- Select Maintenance/repairs]]Bleed brakes[[.
Follow the instructions on the Porsche System Tester.
Performing ABS/PSM swap test
Information
If work has been done on the hydraulic unit, the speed sensors and the wire harness or if the hydraulic unit is replaced, a system check (function test) must be carried out using the Porsche System Tester. This is the case, for example, after accident repairs! This prevents any confusion of electrical or hydraulic lines and ensures faultless operation of the system.
If brake lines that are connected to an intermediate piece (cable bushing) are replaced, a system check or swap test must also be performed. Unintentional bending of the brake lines could lead to incorrect hydraulic allocation despite the different threads.
If a fault is displayed during operation (when no assembly work was carried out beforehand), diagnosis and fault finding are also carried out using the Porsche System Tester.
Connect the Porsche System Tester to the vehicle.
- Select Control unit overview ]]PSM[[.
- Select Maintenance/repairs ]]Hydraulic swap test[[.
Follow the instructions on the Porsche System Tester. A second mechanic is required for the test.
Checking speed sensor
If speed sensors were replaced or if they need to be checked, the Porsche System Tester must be used.
Connect the Porsche System Tester to the vehicle.
- Select Control unit overview ]]PSM[[.
- Select Maintenance/repairs ]]Speed sensor test[[.
Follow the instructions on the Porsche System Tester.
