Technical values

General information

Symptom

On vehicles with powerlift for rear lid (I-no. 4E7), the drive mechanism can be reversed or operate loudly when closing when there is no visible resistance from an obstacle.

Cause, date of introduction and remedial action

Cause

The powerlift drive mechanism can be reversed due to bodyshell and manufacturing tolerances.

Date of introduction

The production process was changed for vehicles produced after 08.09.2010.

Remedial action

Check the vehicle history to see if the vehicle is affected by workshop campaign WA67 and whether the campaign has already been completed.
The tailgate control unit is also re-programmed as part of workshop campaign WA67. No other measures are required.

In the case of vehicles manufactured before the specified date of introduction but not affected by workshop campaign WA67, the tailgate control unit must be re-programmed using PIWIS Tester II if complaints are received.

NOTICE

Programming interrupted

- Malfunctions in control unit
- Risk of damage to control unit

-> Before starting work, connect a suitable battery charger with a current rating of at least => Nominal value: 40 A to the jump-start terminals in the engine compartment.
-> For vehicles with Porsche Entry & Drive, remove the control panel from the ignition lock and insert the original vehicle key into the ignition lock instead of the control panel. Keep the control panel in a safe place.
-> Switch on the ignition using the original vehicle key for the duration of the work, otherwise the ignition will be switched off automatically after 10 minutes and control unit programming will be interrupted.
