Adjusting front door

WARNING

Incorrect handling of safety bolts

- Danger of injury
- Loss of torque

-> Always use new fastening screws and nuts following removal.
-> Observe specified tightening torques.
-> Carry out a visual inspection of all re-used parts.

Information

Only tighten the fastening screws on the door hinges hand-tight from the inside until the doors are set correctly.

Information

- Set gap dimensions on the lids, doors and covers, or accessories in accordance with the gap specifications.

- Given a clearance in the openings that is too great or too small, the movable body parts or the accessories must be centred accordingly.

- Ensure that the gaps do not run in a wedge-shaped fashion or do not narrow at local points.

- You can use star gauges for body gap dimensions NR.127-1 for this.

- The given values are guidelines which should be observed as far as possible.

- The guidelines apply to repair and assembly work.

- The door hinge must be aligned after installing the door.

- Loosen fastening screws for door hinge at the door and fastening screws for door hinge at the A-pillar so that the threaded connections can be moved.

Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle. Naturally, some steps also have to be performed on the opposite side of the vehicle as well. These must be carried out as a mirror image of the steps shown.

1. Adjust the front door with door hinge at the door.

2. Adjust the front door with door hinge at the body.

3. Adjust the front door at the striker pin.

Checking front door lock

1. Check the function of the front door lock.
2. Check closing and opening forces and compare with the other doors.
If these forces differ, readjust the door.
