Removing And Installing Dashboard Support
Technical values
Preliminary work
1. Remove the dashboard.
2. Detach the steering column at the bracket.
3. Detach the wiper linkage.
Removing dashboard support
INFORMATION:
- Due to the large number of cable attachments, not all cable attachments can be described and illustrated.
- When removing the dashboard support, make sure that wires or plug connections are not damaged.
1. Unscrew the fastening screws -1- for the fuse box at the left and right and leave the fuse box hanging at the wires.
2. Screw off fastening nut on driver s side -arrow - and remove the ground cable.
3. Screw off fastening nut on passenger s side -arrow- and remove the ground cable.
4. Release and unplug four electric plug connections for the control unit for front-end electronics on the driver s side.
5. Release and unplug electric plug connection for the voltage transformer for Start/Stop on the passenger's side.
6. Remove tie-wraps -arrows- and remove the wire harness from the dashboard support.
7. Unclip the wire harness along the dashboard support -arrows-.
8. Unclip the main cable duct from the heater/air-conditioning unit arrow-.
9. Remove dashboard support.
9.1 Unscrew fastening screw for the dashboard support in the engine compartment -arrow-.
9.2 Lift up the main cable duct and unscrew the fastening screw -arrow- under the main cable duct.
9.3 Unscrew fastening screw for the dashboard support at the plenum panel -arrow-.
9.4 Unscrew four fastening screws used to secure the dashboard support to the centre tunnel.
9.5 Unscrew two fastening nuts -3- used to secure the dashboard support to the body at the left.
9.6 Unscrew one fastening nut -3- used to secure the dashboard support to the body at the right.
10. Guide the dashboard support out of the wire harness and remove it.
Installing dashboard support
INFORMATION:
- Due to the large number of cable attachments, not all cable attachments can be described and illustrated.
- When positioning the dashboard support, make sure that wires or plug connections are not jammed.
- Before securing the dashboard support, make sure that all lines and plug connections are routed correctly.
1. Get another mechanic to help you position the dashboard support in such a way that the wire harnesses can be clipped in.
2. Install dashboard support.
2.1 Tighten two fastening nuts at the left for securing the dashboard support to the body -3- to -> Tightening torque: 20 Nm (15 ftlb.).
2.2 Tighten one fastening nut -3- at the right for securing the dashboard support to the body to -> Tightening torque: 20 Nm 15 ftlb.).
2.3 Tighten four fastening screws on the centre tunnel -2- to -> Tightening torque: 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)+/-15 %.
2.4 Tighten fastening screw securing engine compartment to dashboard support -arrow- to -> Tightening torque: 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)+/-15 %.
2.5 Tighten fastening screw under the main cable duct -arrow- to -> Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)+/-15 %.
2.6 Tighten fastening screw securing dashboard support to plenum panel -arrow- to -> Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)+/- 15 %.
3. Clip in the main cable duct at the heater/air-conditioning unit -arrow-.
4. Clip in wire harness along the dashboard support -arrows-.
5. Secure the wire harness on the dashboard support with new tiewraps -arrows-.
6. Connect ground cable to ground pin.
7. Attach the ground cable to the stud and screw on fastening nut on driver s side -arrow-.
8. Attach the ground cable to the stud and screw on fastening nut on passenger s side -arrow-.
9. Plug in and lock four electric plug connections for the control unit for front-end electronics on the driver s side.
10. Plug in and lock electric plug connection on control unit at the passenger's side.
11. Position fuse box at the left and right and secure with the two fastening screws -1-.
Subsequent work
1. Secure the steering column at the bracket.
2. Install the dashboard.
3. Secure the wiper linkage.
