Air Line: Testing and Inspection
WM 438549 Eliminating symptoms on body exterior - Reworking compressed air hose on the pressure control valve (vehicle lying to one side or message in the instrument cluster/SY2410)
General information
Symptoms
The vehicle is lying to one side along the transverse axis, i.e. the driver's corner is lying lower when viewed from the front or rear.
One of the following fault/warning messages may be output in connection with the level control system in the instrument cluster:
- Red warning message: "Chassis system failure" or
- Yellow warning message: "Chassis system fault".
One or more of the following fault codes may be output in the PIWIS Tester:
- FC000 283: 'Levelling system, position not reached'
- FC000 284: 'Control position not adjustable, vehicle too high or too low'
- FC000 320: 'Level control implausible'.
Cause, date of introduction and remedial action
Cause
Due to different production sequences, one or more of the four compressed air hoses may not be correctly mounted on the pressure control valve, i.e. the designated insertion depth of the connection may not be reached in the pressure control valve.
Date of introduction
The production sequence was changed for vehicles produced after 20.04.2010.
Remedial action
If one or more of the above-mentioned symptoms occur, the following check must be performed on the connections/plug connections of the compressed air hoses directly at the pressure control valve of the four air-spring struts before any other work is carried out:
Check the correct insertion depth of the compressed air hose at the pressure control valve or for damage,
=> Check:
- There must be only one colour marking (one white ring) visible at the connection ( -Pos. 1- , -Arrow- ).
- If, however, there are two colour markings (two white rings) visible, the correct insertion depth has not been reached.
Figure 1
Figure 2
- The dimension "x" ( -Pos. x- ) from the end of the compressed air hose to the push-on connector must be at least 8.0 mm.
Figure 3
=> Remedial action:
If two colour markings are visible, the corresponding compressed air hose must be replaced.
The available line cannot be repaired.
If the compressed air hose or connection is damaged, the damaged components must also be replaced.
Check the tightening torques of the connections on the lines, see -> 4X00IN Tightening torques for levelling system/Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) [1][2]Specifications.
Fault finding must generally be performed using
- "Guided Fault Finding" - GFS in the PIWIS Tester and - the fault finding table in the repair information-> 430149 Troubleshooting the levelling system Symptom Related Diagnostic Procedures.
