Preliminary work

Preliminary work for removing and installing lines for ATF cooling

1. Remove engine-bay guard. -> 108019 Removing and installing engine-bay guard - section on "Removing" 108019 Removing and installing engine guard
2. Support the engine on the body. -> 1001IN Supporting the engine on the body 1001IN Supporting the engine on the body

Installation location of ATF lines





Removal of line - 1 - -1-
1. Lower the automatic transmission. -> 373519 Removing and installing transmission - section on "Removing" 373519 Removing and Installing Transmission
2. Loosen holder -1- for ATF lines at the front of the transmission.

3. Unclip ATF lines -A-.
4. Place a suitable container underneath to catch emerging ATF.
Loosen the front fastening screw -1- for the ATF lines -2- on the ATF heat exchanger -3- and pull it out.
Close off the ATF lines and bores in the heat exchanger using suitable stoppers.

5. Lift the automatic transmission using a suitable jack. -> 373519 Removing and installing transmission - section on "Installing" 373519 Removing and Installing Transmission
Use the old screws to secure the transmission.
6. Loosen the fastening screw -1- on the holder -2- for ATF lines -3- at the thermostat -4-.

7. Place a suitable container underneath to catch emerging ATF.
Pull ATF lines out of the thermostat.
Close off the ATF lines and bores at the thermostat using suitable stoppers.
8. Remove engine carrier. -> 103019 Removing and installing engine carrier - section on "Removing" 103019 Removing and installing engine carrier
9. Detach holder -1- for ATF lines at the front of the engine.

10. Detach holder -1- for ATF lines at the rear of the engine.

11. Remove ATF line out of the vehicle and set it aside.

12. Loosen fastening screws -1- for the heat shield -2- at the automatic transmission -3-.

13. Place a suitable container underneath to catch emerging ATF.
Loosen the fastening screw -1- for the ATF lines -2- at the bottom of the transmission -3-.

14. Remove rear ATF lines.
Close off the ATF lines and transmission bores using suitable stoppers.
15. Loosen the fastening screw -1- on the holder -2- for ATF lines -3- at the thermostat -4-.

16. Place a suitable container underneath to catch emerging ATF.
Pull ATF lines out of the thermostat.
Close off the ATF lines and bores at the thermostat using suitable stoppers.
17. Remove engine carrier. -> 103019 Removing and installing engine carrier - section on "Removing" 103019 Removing and installing engine carrier
18. Detach holder -1- for ATF lines at the front of the engine.

19. Detach holder -1- for ATF lines at the rear of the engine.

20. Unclip ATF lines -A-.

21. Remove ATF line out of the vehicle and set it aside.

22. Lower the automatic transmission. -> 373519 Removing and installing transmission - section on "Removing" 373519 Removing and Installing Transmission
23. Loosen fastening screws -1- for the heat shield -2- at the automatic transmission -3-.

24. Remove heat shield.
25. Place a suitable container underneath to catch emerging ATF.
Loosen the fastening screw -1- on the ATF lines -2- at the bottom of the transmission -3-.

26. Remove front ATF line.
Close off the ATF lines and transmission bores using suitable stoppers.
27. Place a suitable container underneath to catch emerging ATF.
Loosen the rear fastening screw -1- for the ATF lines -2- on the ATF heat exchanger -3- and pull it out.
Close off the ATF lines and bores in the heat exchanger using suitable stoppers.

Installing lines for ATF cooling

Information

- The sealing rings at the ends of the ATF lines on the transmission and cooler sides must be replaced before installation.

Installation of line - 1 - -1-
1. Remove engine carrier. -> 103019 Removing and installing engine carrier - section on "Removing" 103019 Removing and installing engine carrier
2. Insert ATF lines into the vehicle.
3. Place holder -1- for ATF lines on the rear of the engine and screw in fastening screw to => Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.).

4. Place ATF lines on the front of the engine and fit the holder -1- to => Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.).

5. Insert ATF lines -3- into the thermostat -4-.

6. Place holder -2- for ATF lines -3- to the ATF thermostat -4- in position.
Ensure that the lines are seated correctly.
7. Fit fastening screw -1- to => Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6 ftlb.).
8. Install engine carrier. -> 103019 Removing and installing engine carrier - section on "Installing" 103019 Removing and installing engine carrier
9. Lower the automatic transmission. -> 373519 Removing and installing transmission - section on "Removing" 373519 Removing and Installing Transmission
10. Secure holder -1- for ATF lines to the front of the transmission.
Screw in fastening screw to => Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.).

11. Clip ATF line into the holder -A-.
12. Position the front ATF line -2- on the ATF heat exchanger -3-.
Ensure that the lines are seated correctly.

13. Fit fastening screws -1- to => Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6 ftlb.).
14. Lift the automatic transmission using a suitable jack.

Installation of line - 2 - -2-
15. Remove engine carrier. -> 103019 Removing and installing engine carrier - section on "Removing" 103019 Removing and installing engine carrier
16. Insert ATF lines into the vehicle.
17. Place holder -1- for ATF lines on the rear of the engine and screw in fastening screw to => Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.).

18. Place ATF lines on the front of the engine and fit the holder -1- to => Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.).

19. Insert ATF lines -3- into the thermostat -4-.

20. Place holder -2- for ATF lines -3- to the ATF thermostat -4- in position.
Ensure that the lines are seated correctly.
21. Fit fastening screw -1- to => Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6 ftlb.).
22. Install engine carrier. -> 103019 Removing and installing engine carrier - section on "Installing" 103019 Removing and installing engine carrier
23. Position ATF lines -2- with holder in the transmission -3-.
Ensure that the lines are seated correctly.

24. Fit fastening screw -1- to=> Tightening torque: 20 Nm (15 ftlb.).
25. Fit fastening screws -1- of the heat shield -2- to the automatic transmission -3- to => Tightening torque: 15 Nm (11 ftlb.).

Installation of line - 3 - -3-
26. Lower the automatic transmission. -> 373519 Removing and installing transmission - section on "Removing" 373519 Removing and Installing Transmission
27. Position the rear ATF line -2- on the ATF heat exchanger -3-.
Ensure that the lines are seated correctly.

28. Fit fastening screws -1- to => Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6 ftlb.).
29. Position ATF lines -2- with holder in the transmission -3-.
Ensure that the lines are seated correctly.

30. Fit fastening screw -1- to=> Tightening torque: 20 Nm (15 ftlb.).
31. Fit fastening screws -1- of the heat shield -2- to the automatic transmission -3- to => Tightening torque: 15 Nm (11 ftlb.).

32. Lift the automatic transmission using a suitable jack.

Subsequent work

Subsequent work for removing and installing ATF lines

1. Check ATF level and top up if necessary. -> 370235 Checking and topping up ATF 370235 Checking and Topping Up ATF
