Fuel Supply, High-Pressure Side V6 DFI
Fuel supply, high-pressure side V6 DFI
The fuel high-pressure system is matched to the characteristics of the V6 engine (on the basis of the V8 DFI naturally aspirated engine). The high-pressure fuel system (from the high-pressure pump to the injectors) is comparable with that of the V8 DFI naturally aspirated engines apart for the high-pressure rail.
The fuel high pressure is built up by the radial 3-piston high-pressure pump of the Panamera S. This is driven via the left-hand intake camshaft. Fuel is distributed via a central high-pressure fuel rail specifically adapted for the V6 engine. This rail is located in the inner-V of the engine with separate lines leading to the fuel injectors. The injectors correspond to those of the Panamera S.
When the engine is running, the high pressure measured by the pressure sensor is regulated to a pressure of between approx. 580 to 1740 psi/40 to 120 bar by the quantity control valve (at the input of the high-pressure pump).
