Fuel and Ignition System (DME)
Ignition system
Ignition coils
The Panamera V6 features static high-voltage ignition distribution with individual ignition coils for each spark plug. The individual ignition coils with integral drivers have the following advantages:
- High level of ignition reliability
- Minimum electromagnetic interference with other electronic components
- No requirement for ignition cables and distributor
The function of the ignition distributor is performed by the engine control unit. All of the described advantages of the ignition system ensure safe ignition processes and contribute to optimized power output together with reduced emissions and fuel consumption.
The aluminum fastening screws of the ignition coils are secured in the magnesium valve cover. In order to prevent consequential damage, it is essential to observe the new tightening method in accordance with the Technical Data.
NOTE: Spark plugs: The service intervals of the V6 spark plugs is 40,000 miles or every 4 years.
Knock sensors
The V6 engine has 2 knock sensors (K) in the V of the engine block for knock detection (the V8 has 4).
