Preliminary work

1. Disconnect the battery. -> 2X00IN Work instructions after disconnecting the battery - section on "Disconnecting" 2X00IN Work instructions after disconnecting the battery
2. Remove trim panel under dashboard at driver's side. -> 701919 Removing and installing trim panel under dashboard - section on "Removing" 701919 Removing and installing trim panel under dashboard
3. If the PDK control unit is installed, remove PDK control unit. -> 373019 Removing and installing Tiptronic control unit - section on "Removing" 373019 Removing and installing transmission control unit (PDK)

Removing control unit for front-end electronics





Installation position

1. Unclip control unit for front-end electronics from the bracket.
1.1. Release the securing lugs with a screwdriver -arrow A-.
1.2. Pull control unit for front-end electronics and intermediate support -1- out of the bracket -2- in direction of travel.
1.3. Swivel control unit for front-end electronics and intermediate support out sideways in a downward direction.

2. Disconnect electric plug connections.
2.1. Release and pull off electric plug connection -arrow a-.
2.2. Release securing clip -1- ( -arrow a- ).
2.3. Swivel securing clip down and pull off electric plug connection.

3. Unclip control unit for front-end electronics from the intermediate support.
3.1. Release locking lugs on intermediate support -2- ( -arrow A- ).
3.2. Take control unit for front-end electronics -1- out of the intermediate support -2- ( -arrow B- ).

Installing control unit for front-end electronics

1. Clip control unit for front-end electronics into the intermediate support.
1.1. Guide control unit for front-end electronics -1- into the intermediate support -arrow A-.
1.2. Clip control unit for front-end electronics into the locking lugs -2- on the intermediate support -arrow B- until the lugs engage securely.

2. Connect electric plug connections.
2.1. Plug in electric plug connection with the securing clip.
2.2. Bend up the securing clip -1- ( -arrow A- ) until the locking mechanism engages securely.
2.3. Plug in electric plug connection without the securing clip until the locking mechanism engages securely.





Inserting connector

3. Clip control unit for front-end electronics into the bracket.
3.1. Swivel control unit for front-end electronics and intermediate support -3- up as far as the bracket -4-.
3.2. Position guides -1- for intermediate support on the bracket -4- ( -arrow A- ).
3.3. Pull control unit for front-end electronics and intermediate support in the opposite direction to the direction of travel until the locking lugs -2- lock with an audible click.

Subsequent work

1. If the PDK control unit is to be installed, install the PDK control unit. -> 373019 Removing and installing Tiptronic control unit - section on "Installing" 373019 Removing and installing transmission control unit (PDK)
2. Install trim panel under dashboard at the driver's side. -> 701919 Removing and installing trim panel under dashboard - section on "Installing" 701919 Removing and installing trim panel under dashboard
3. Connect the battery. -> 2X00IN Work instructions after disconnecting the battery - section on "Connecting" 2X00IN Work instructions after disconnecting the battery
