Information
If the occupant detection control unit (installed with the country equipment USA/Canada/Mexico) has to be replaced, the repair kit compromising padding, occupant detection control unit and pressure sensor mat must always be replaced as a complete unit.
The spare parts are grouped in a repair kit (compromising padding -1- , occupant detection control unit -2- and pressure sensor mat -3- ), which must always be replaced as a complete unit.
Occupant detection repair kit contents
Mixed installation, e.g. "old" pressure sensor mat and "new" control unit, is not permitted.
The padding, pressure sensor mat and occupation detection control unit are calibrated together by the manufacturer and must therefore only be replaced as a complete unit.
The occupant detection control unit must not be coded.
Information
The connector of the occupant detection control unit must be inserted straight as otherwise the seal will be damaged. The seating of the seal must then be checked.
1. If the control unit for occupant detection has to be replaced, the data must be read out from the control unit before it is removed -> 696855 Replacing AWS control unit.
2. Disconnect battery -> 2706IN00 Work instructions after disconnecting the battery.
3. Remove right front seat-> 720119 Removing and installing front seat - section on "Removing" 720119 Removing and Installing Front Seat.
4. Remove memory seat adjustment control unit -> 729319 Removing and installing control unit for memory seat adjustment - section on "Removing" 729319 Removing and Installing Control Unit For Memory Seat Adjustment.

1. Unscrew the two fastening screws -1- for the occupant detection control unit at the seat console.

2. Lift electric connector at the occupant detection control unit -a- and unplug it.
3. Remove occupant detection control unit.
4. Remove padding for right seat -> 741055 Replacing padding for front seat 741055 Replacing padding for front seat.
5. Remove pressure sensor mat -> 741055 Replacing padding for front seat 741055 Replacing padding for front seat.

Installing AWS control unit
1. Push electric connector onto AWS control unit until it is felt to engage.

2. Position AWS control unit on the holder and screw it down with the two fastening screws -1-.
Subsequent work

4. Install right front seat-> 720119 Removing and installing front seat - section on "Installing" 720119 Removing and Installing Front Seat.

6. If the occupant detection control unit was replaced, the data must be written into the control unit/checked -> 696855 Replacing AWS control unit.
