WM 644049 Reworking (coating) front door window
General warning notes
Warning note for hydrophobic window
NOTICE
Smears
- Impaired vision and dazzling
-> A coating may only be applied to the side windows.
-> Never apply a coating on the windscreen in particular.
Preliminary work
Checking window glass
Information
- The hydrophobic coating is extremely durable. If the hydrophobic characteristics are reduced, a new coating can be applied to the windows without any special measures.
- The need for rework (applying new coating) can be examined by checking the drops of water on the windows.
Spray on water using a water spray bottle with an atomiser and check the hydrophobic layer from the droplet formation.
- Drop size on hydrophobic coating - OK
Drop size on hydrophobic coating - OK
- Droplet formation - coating worn.
Drop size on hydrophobic coating - worn
Cleaning window surfaces
Information
The window must be coated immediately after being polished.
1. Clean the window using commercially available glass cleaner.
2. Shake the polish well before use.
3. Dampen polishing cloths with water, apply polish and buff for several minutes.
4. Allow the film of polish to dry and then wipe it off completely.
Applying coating
Information
- The hydrophobic coating must not come into contact with water or other fluids for at least 30 minutes after applying the coating.
1. Apply hydrophobic coating agent as a flat liquid film and rub immediately and uniformly with a paper towel.
2. A grey fog forms on the treated surface following application. Polish off this grey fog completely using a new, dry and clean paper towel.
3. The coating must not come into contact with water or other fluids for at least 30 minutes.
- Dried-on coating agent can be soaked by rubbing with the moist cloth and can then be rubbed off with a clean paper towel.
