P001600Diagnostic information - DME control unit
Crankshaft sensor
The control unit must be active in order to test internal function sequences and diagnosable inputs/outputs.
In the event of a fault, check whether the fault is permanently >present<. To perform the check, erase the fault memory, meet the diagnostic conditions and read out the fault memory again.
NOTE:
- The engine speed sensor is an rpm and reference mark sender
- In the event of a signal failure of the crankshaft sensor, the engine can no longer be started
- The dynamic response is reduced (torque limitation)
- Idle speed increase
- Deactivation of smooth-running regulator and surge damper
- Deactivation of EGR
- Camshaft diagnosis disabled
Diagnostic conditions
- Idling
Possible fault causes
- Open circuit
- Signal implausible
NOTE:
Diagnosis/Fault finding.
- Check camshaft timing (camshaft position) via the Tester
- Check chain drive to determine whether the chain is out of place. Check the camshaft adjuster function (check timing valves, shaft adjusters, oil pressure)
- Check wiring of the camshaft adjusters
- Check sensor wiring
- Check camshaft sensor wheel
