P07130

Diagnostic information - Tiptronic

P0710 ATF temperature sensor

NOTE:
The ATF temperature sensor is located in the hydraulic control unit's wiring harness. If the part is faulty, the hydraulic control unit's complete wiring harness must be replaced.
- If a fault is detected, a substitute value of 30 °C - 110 °C (86 °F - 230 °F) is assumed.

Diagnostic conditions
The control unit must be active in order to test internal function sequences and diagnosable inputs/outputs.
In the event of a fault, check whether the fault is permanently >present<. To perform the check, erase the fault memory, meet the diagnostic conditions and read out the fault memory again.

NOTE:
The ATF fluid level in the transmission must be OK and the specified ATF fluid must be used.
The ATF filter and cooler must not be blocked.

The following requirements are met for at least 0.5 seconds:
- Voltage greater than 10.2 V and less than 15.5 V
- Ignition on
- Internal function test on Tiptronic control unit
- Engine running without malfunctions, engine speed > 400 rpm

Possible fault causes
- ATF level too low
- ATF temperature Less than -43 °C or Greater than 200 °C (Less than -45 °F or Greater than 392 °F)
- Short circuit to B+/ground, between each other or open circuit
- ATF temperature sensor faulty
- Tiptronic control unit faulty

Fault effects
- Check Engine warning light in instrument cluster >>ON<<
- No self-teaching check >>Adaptation<<
- A substitute value is used for the oil temperature
- No slip check on torque converter lockup clutch
- Pin assignment Control units 45 and 8
