Diagnosis information - Control unit DME (DFI)

Tank system - Leak

Diagnostic conditions
- Short test Tank tightness perform
or:
- Driving > 150 Second(s) , at:
- Engine start temperature 5 ... 50 °C (°F)
- Period since engine was started 5 Second(s) ... 20 Minute(s)
- Ambient pressure > 730 hPa (=Location below approx. 2400 ... 2700 mm)
- Height difference < 20 mm
- Intake air temperature > 5 °C (°F)
- Intake air temperature : fluctuation(s) < 10 °C (°F)
- Vehicle speed 77 ... 120 km/h
- Acceleration / Deceleration max. -2 m/s� ... +2 m/s�
- high component Partial load

Possible fault causes
- Tank cap loose / does not close (sufficiently)
- Tank cap leaks / Faulty
- Vacuum system leaks (See [Information] 1)
- Vacuum pump Faulty
- Tank vent (tank vent valve) mechanical Faulty (does not close sufficiently)
- Leakage diagnosis pump internal (Diaphragm) or external leak
- Tank system (with hoses) leaks

Fault setting condition(s)
- Leaks total in the Tank system (See [Information] 2):
- Diameter approx. 0.5 - 1 mm - Ultrafine leak P0456
- Diameter approx. 1 - 2 mm - Fine leak P0442
- Diameter > 2 mm Coarse leak P0455

INFORMATION
1. The system includes includes:
- mechanical Vacuum pump
- Leakage diagnosis pump
- Intake pipe switchover (not Turbo)
- Frequency valve, boost control (only Turbo)
- Diverter solenoid valve (only Turbo)
- Exhaust flap (if present)

2. There may be several small leaks which correspond in total to the leak determined here.
