10. Communication Monitoring

10.1 CAN controller monitoring (P0604)
The Battery contains two CAN controller to communicate with the vehicle (see Figure 10-1).






10.1.1 Monitoring strategy
This monitoring strategy will check, if the CAN controller has a malfunction.
The malfunction is detected by internal CAN controller status.

10.2 CAN message monitoring (U0401, U0411, U0415, U0447)

10.2.1 Monitoring strategy
This monitoring strategy will check, if a received CAN messages is invalid.
A message malfunction is detected by CAN controller status.

10.3 CAN timeout monitoring (U0002, U0029, U0100, U0110, U0121, U0146, U0155)

10.3.1 Monitoring strategy
This monitoring strategy will check, if a CAN messages is not received any more.
If a message timeout counter exceeds a threshold a malfunction is detected.

This monitoring strategy will check, if the CAN bus has a wiring malfunction by checking controller status.
