Removing and Installing Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) Control Unit

1 If a new control unit has to be installed, the values/coding must be read out using PIWIS Tester II 9818 prior to removing the "old" control unit.
2. Remove cover for centre underbody.

- Risk of damage to load or to the control unit

-> Remove the ignition key and switch off load before disconnecting or removing load.

1. Release -a- and disconnect plug connection -A-.

2. Remove control unit for Tyre Pressure Monitoring.

Mounting for Control Unit for TPM:






2.1. Unscrew fastening screws -1-.
2.2. Remove control unit for Tyre Pressure Monitoring.

Information
Before installing the control unit for Tyre Pressure Monitoring (TPM), visually check the control unit and plug connection with regard to the following points:
- Damage to the housing.
- Damage to the contacts on the control unit.
- Damage to the connector and contacts on the vehicle wire harness.
- Dirty contacts.

If the control unit is damaged, replace it.

If the wire harness, connector or contacts are damaged, repair them in accordance with the relevant safety instructions using the press-out tool set Nr.155 Pos.1.

If the contacts are dirty, clean them.

1. Install control unit for Tyre Pressure Monitoring.

1.1. Move control unit for Tyre Pressure Monitoring (TPM) into installation position.
1.2. Tighten fastening screws -1-.

Tightening torque: 2.5 Nm (2 ftlb.)

2. Connect plug connection -arrow- until the connector engages securely.

Subsequent work

1. Install cover for centre underbody.
2. If the control unit was replaced, the "new" control unit must be adapted to suit the vehicle using PIWIS Tester II 9818.
