Vehicle List, Parts, Owner Notification & Service Procedure Information
Vehicle ListEach dealer to whom involved cars were invoiced will receive a listing of them with this letter, arranged in Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) sequence. Owners known to Jeep/Eagle Division of Chrysler Motors are also listed. The lists are for dealer reference in arranging for service of involved cars.
Each Jeep/Eagle dealer without a Vehicle List will receive an information copy of this letter for use in performing the service on involved cars upon request.
Parts
CTS Air Bleed Valve Packages, PN 8983 000 033, are being shipped at dealer cost to involved dealers. Each package contains the following parts:
(1) Air bleed valve harness
(1) CTS jumper harness
(1) Recall completion label
Each dealer to whom involved cars were invoiced will receive enough parts packages to service 20% of those cars. Additional parts may be ordered from Jeep/Eagle Parts Distribution Centers at dealer cost. Please order only as needed.
A 30% parts allowance will be paid for each parts package installed, as explained in the Completion Reporting and Reimbursement section of this letter.
Owner Notification and Service Scheduling
All involved car owners known to the Jeep/Eagle Division will be notified of the service requirement by first class mail. They will be requested to schedule appointments for the service with their dealers at the earliest possible date. A copy of the owner notification letter is attached for your information.

Service Procedure
1. Open the hood and check left strut tower for recall completion label shown in Figure 6.
a. If the label is found, return vehicle to owner.
b. If no label is found, proceed to step 2.

2. Locate the fuel vapor canister (A-Fig. 1).
3. Locate hose B and C (Fig. 1) and cut both hoses about 75 mm (3 in.) from the canister end.

4. Install air bleed harness assembly (DFig. 2) by inserting small diameter tee connector (E-Fig. 2) into both cut ends of hose B and large diameter tee connector (F-Fig. 2) into both cut ends of hose C.

5. Secure air bleed harness assembly with a tie strap (G-Fig. 3) to canister hoses as shown.

6. Locate the CTS (H-Fig. 4) at the end of cylinder head on the driver's side.
7. Disconnect CTS connector (J-Fig. 4).

8. Install CTS jumper harness (K-Fig. 5) into separated ends of CTS connector (J).

9. To complete the service, clean a place on the left strut tower and install recall completion label (Fig. 6) provided in the parts package.
