Manual Transmission/Transaxle: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove starter motor, then loosen rear stabilizer bracket retaining bolt and position stabilizer bracket aside.
3. Disconnect clutch cable at fork, then remove housing stop.
4. Install support spacers T.Av. 50901 or equivalent between lower shock absorber retaining bolt and lower suspension arm.
5. Raise and support vehicle, then remove both front wheels.
6. Remove brake calipers and attach to chassis so that calipers do not hang by brake hoses.
7. Remove driveshaft roll pins at transaxle side of driveshaft.
8. Remove tie rod ends from stub axle carriers and disconnect upper ball joint.
9. Tilt stub axle carriers downward and pull axles from transaxle.
10. Disconnect speedometer cable and all electrical connectors from transaxle.
11. Loosen Allen screw securing gearshift linkage to transaxle shift lever, then disconnect gearshift linkage from transaxle.
12. Remove clutch cover, then support transaxle with suitable jack.
13. Remove transaxle supports, then remove engine to transaxle retaining bolts.
14. Position transaxle rearward and remove from vehicle.
15. Reverse procedure to install. Adjust clutch and gearshift linkages as described previously.
