Overrev Limiting (Turbo Only)
There is a safety function designed to break the circuit to the fuel pump when the engine stops. It is made up of a pulse generator in the fuel pump relay which is triggered by ignition pulses. If the ignition does not generate a pulse for more than a second, the relay will break the circuit and the fuel pump will no longer operate. Incorporated into the pump relay is an overrev limiter which breaks the circuit to the fuel pump when the engine speed exceeds 6,000 RPM.
