Emission Control Systems: Description and Operation


In order to meet emission requirements, these vehicles are equipped with various emission control devices. These devices include a catalytic converter, a PCV system, a deceleration dashpot, an electronically controlled fuel system, an exhaust gas recirculation system and an evaporative loss control system complete with a storage canister.
The emission control devices work together to reduce the harmful pollutants NOx, HC and CO.
