Operation
The oil pressure warning lamp is intended to warn the driver that the engine oil pressure is below the predetermined value. The wiring on 1984 models differs from that of 1985 and 1986 models.
1984 models
When the ignition switch is in the drive position, lamp 47D in the combined instrument is supplied (+15) via the 29-pole white connector 152A.
If the lubricating oil pressure should drop below 0.3 - 0.5 bar, oil pressure transmitter 44 will close and the lamp will light up.
1985 and 1986 models
Lamp 47D in the combined instrument is supplied (+15) from fuse 22, via the 29-pole red connector 152B.
If the lubricating oil pressure should drop below 0.3 - 0.5 bar, oil pressure transmitter 44 will close and the lamp will light up.
Fault-tracing hints
The oil pressure warning lamp will be operative when the ignition switch is in the drive position.
1984 models
1. Check the bulb and check that the supply to its terminals in the combined instrument is live.
2. Remove the cable from the oil pressure transmitter and earth it. If the lamp lights up,the circuit is unbroken.
3. Check the connectors, cable harnesses and the earth connection of the oil pressure transmitter.
1985 and 1986 models
1. Check fuse 22 and check that the supply to it is live.
2. Check the bulb and check that the supply to its terminals in the combined instrument is live.
3. Remove the cable from the oil pressure transmitter and earth it. If the lamp lights up, the circuit is unbroken.
4. Check the connectors, cable harnesses and the earth connection of the oil pressure transmitter.
