Checking Clutch For Wear

The clutch plate wear can be checked through an inspection hole in the flywheel housing. The inspection hole is provided with a rectangular cover.
1. Depress the clutch pedal and release it so that the release bearing is still in contact with the diaphragm spring "fingers".

2. Check through the inspection hole that the movable locking ring on the slave cylinder piston is in contact with the cylinder housing.

3. Check the distance between the movable locking ring and the circlip behind the release bearing.

TO CHECK THE CLUTCH FOR WEAR ON A CLUTCH WITH THE LATER VERSION OF SLAVE CYLINDER
Remove the inspection cover and check the clutch wear through the inspection hole in the flywheel cover.
If the distance between the front edge of the plastic sleeve and the front shoulder of the turned surface is less than 2 mm, fit a new clutch plate.
