Operation

Direction Indicators
The supply is taken from fuse 12 to hazard warning light switch 25, and then through this switch (in the un-actuated position) to flasher relay 23.

From the flasher relay, current pulses are applied to direction indicator lamp 27 (left-hand side) or 28 (right-hand side) through direction indicator stalk switch 24, as soon as this is moved from the neutral position. The side direction indicator lamps 89 (left-hand side) and 90 (right-hand side) also receive current pulses via the flasher relay.

In positions L1 and R1 of the direction indicator stalk, the corresponding indicator lamp will flash as long as the stalk remains in the corresponding actuated position. In positions L2 and R2, the direction indicator lamps will be actuated in the same manner, although the direction indicator stalk switch will be tripped automatically to the neutral position when the steering wheel returns towards the straight a head position.

Warning lamps 47H (left-hand side) and 471 (right- hand side) are energized in parallel with the direction indicator lamps on the corresponding side.

The left-hand or right-hand corner light 118 is supplied across the left-hand contact group of direction indicator stalk switch 24. Which light is supplied is dependent on the stalk position. The supply is taken directly from fuse 31, and the selected corner light will therefore light up with a steady light, instead of flashing.

The direction indicator lamps on the trailer are supplied across connector 258.

Hazard warning lights
The supply to hazard warning light switch 25 is taken from fuse 22. When the switch is depressed, current will flow to flasher relay 23.

The flasher relay then applies current pulses to terminal 49A of direction indicator stalk switch 24.

Since switch 25 is depressed, the direction indicator circuits for the right-hand and left-hand sides will be interconnected, and current pulses will be fed through terminals L and R in the direction indicator stalk switch.

The two direction indicator warning lamps, 47H (left-hand side) and 471 (right-hand side), will also flash.

When the switch is depressed, the indicating lamp inside the switch will also light up.

The direction indicator lamps on the trailer are supplied across connector 258.

The cars are also equipped with side direction indicator lamps 89 (left-hand side) and 90 (right-hand side).

Fault-tracing hints

Direction Indicators
The direction indicators of the car will be operative only when the ignition key is in the drive position.

1. Check fuse 12 and check that the supply to it is live.
2. Check that terminals 15 and 49 of hazard warning light switch 25 are live.
3. Check that terminals 49 and 49A of flasher relay 23 are live.
4. Check that terminal 49A of direction indicator stalk switch 24 is live.
5. Actuate the direction indicator stalk, check the bulbs and check that the supply to each lamp is live.
6. Check the wiring and the earth connections.

Checking the corner lights
Activate the function by setting the ignition switch to the drive position.

1. Check fuse 31 and check that the supply to it is live.
2. Check that terminal P of the direction indicator stalk switch 24 is live.
3. Actuate the direction indicator stalk, check the bulbs and check that the supply to each lamp is live.
4. Check the wiring and the earth connections.

Hazard warning lights
The hazard warning lights of the car are always operative.

1. Check fuse 22 and check that the supply to it is live.
2. Check that the supply to terminal 30 of hazard warning light switch 25 is live.
3. Depress the switch and check that terminal 49 is live.
4. Check that terminals 49 and 49A of flasher relay 23 are live.
5. Check the bulbs and check that the supply to them is live.
6. Check the connectors, wiring and earth connections.
