Operation
Extra fog lights are fitted only to cars delivered to the USA, CA and JP markets.

The fog lights are connected so that they can only be switched on if the parking lights are switched on or if the headlamps are on dipped beam.

When light switch 10 is set to 1 (parking lights) or 2 (headlamps/dipped beam), switch 88 for the fog lights will be connected to the positive supply across fuse 29. This fuse also supplies the parking lights.

When the switch is depressed, relay 107 will be energized, since its coil is connected to earth across full-beam filaments 11. At the same time, the lamp built into the switch will light up at full intensity. (When the switch is de-activated, the lamp receives its supply across instrument lighting rheostat 16.)

When the relay is energized, both fog lights 85 will receive their supply from fuse 15 (1987)/fuse 5 (1988) across the closed relay contacts.

When the headlamps are on full beam, the relay will be de-energized and the fog lights will be switched off, even if the switch has been depressed, since both sides of the relay coil will then be connected to the positive supply.

Fault-tracing hints
The extra fog lights will be switched on if light switch 10 is in position 1 or 2 and switch 88 for the fog lights has been depressed.

1. Check fuse 15 (1987)/fuse 5 (1988) and fuse 29 and check that the supply to them is live.
2. Check the full beam filaments. (Relay 107 is earthed through the bulbs.)
3. Check the appropriate fog light bulb and check that the supply to it is live. Check the earthing at the bulb.
4. Check fuse 27 (1987)/fuse 4 (1988). If the fuse has blown, the fog lights will not be switched off when the headlamps are switched over to full beam.
5. Check the operation of relay 107, switch 10 and switch 88 by measuring at the terminals.
6. Check the relevant wiring and earth connections.
