Operation
The outer rear-view mirrors are operated by means of a four-position switch and a selector on the drivers side.
The heating elements for the outer rear-view mirrors are switched on and off by means of the switch for the electrically heated rear window.
The supply is taken from fuse 2 to terminal 3 of switch A, which has four positions. Selector B is used for selecting the outer rear-view mirror (left-hand or right-hand) which is to be operated by means of switch A.
The positions of the switches are shown in the figure below:
Position I - right-hand mirror (to turn outwards).
The supply is run from terminal 3, across the contacts in switch A and terminal 7to motor 127. Then through the motor to terminal 1, across the contacts of selector B and terminal 5 to earth.
Position II - right-hand mirror (to turn inwards).
The supply is run from terminal 3, across the contacts of switch A and terminal I to motor 127. Then through the motor to terminal 7, across the contacts in selector A and terminal 5 to earth.
Positions II and IV - right-hand mirror (to turn down or up).
The motor is controlled in the same manner as in positions I and III, except that the supply from terminal 3 is run across the switch to terminal 2 and then to the solenoid and to earth. The solenoid turns the motor to a different position, so that the mirror angle will change vertically.
Heating elements 207 for the outer rear-view mirrors are supplied through cables 320A and 320B. See the section entitled "Electric heating for the rear window".
Fault-tracing hints
The outer rear-view mirrors will be operative as soon as the ignition switch is set to the drive position.
1. Check fuse 2 and check that the supply to it is live.
2. Check the voltage at terminal 3 of switch 124.
3. Operate the switch and check that the supply to motors 126 and 127 is live.
4. Check the connectors, wiring and earth connections.
