SUBJECT: LH 2.4 ECU FAULT CODE RETRIEVAL
APPLICATION: 900 M89, ALL
ISSUE: 10/88-1086
SUPERSEDES: 10/88-1083
Beginning with M89 900 production, a new 10-pin test connector is the access point for reading LH 2.4 fuel injection fault codes. It is located under the passenger's side of the rear seat.
The new test connector replaces the 3-pin connector previously located near the fresh air intake in the engine compartment. The 3-pin connector was only used on M88 900 cars equipped with LH 2.4.
Tool: Switched Jumper Lead 83-93-886

WARNING
When connecting the switched jumper lead to pin 2 make sure that contact is not made with ANY OTHER PINS IN THE CONNECTOR.
The ground must be made to the chassis.
FIGURE 3 - SWITCHED JUMPER LEAD:
3. Connect the switched jumper lead (P/N 83 93 886) between pin 2 and ground. (Figure 3) An adapter lead using a small insulated alligator clip or a narrow insulated female connecter will be required to mate the jumper lead to pin 2.
4. Proceed with the fault code retrieval utilizing the ignition switch and the switch on the grounding jumper lead as outlines in the 1988 900 "News" book (Engine section pages 19- 27). There are no changes to the procedure for fault code retrieval.
